UPMC Health Plan has earned the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA) Health Equity Accreditation for UPMC for You’s Medicaid product. The Health Plan also earned NCQA’s Health Equity Accreditation Plus Designation for UPMC for You’s Medicaid product. These national accreditations reflect our commitment to delivering high-quality, equitable health care to the populations we serve.
NCQA awards Accreditation to organizations that meet or exceed its rigorous requirements for health equity.
NCQA’s Health Equity Accreditation evaluates how well an organization has established a standardized framework for turning health equity into a culture of continuous improvement. The organization builds an internal culture that supports diversity, equity and inclusion; collects data to understand population demographics; offers language services and provider networks that consider individuals’ cultural and linguistic needs; and identifies opportunities to reduce health inequities and improve care.
NCQA’s Health Equity Accreditation Plus is for organizations whose health equity journey is more established. The organization collects data on social risk factors and social needs, establishes partnerships that support community-based organizations; engages consumers, members and community stakeholders in program evaluation; and refers individuals to social resources that will have the most impact.
